We held our Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee Morning this week and were grateful to the team and their families for the huge donation of sweet treats, which made the event a delicious success and helped raise vital funds for such a worthy cause.  To help raise more money, we challenged Stef, Jordan, Shay, and Sam to a cake eating competition!! The challenge was simple – the team were served an equally portioned piece of chocolate fudge cake and whoever finished first, won, and for every like, share, or comment on our social media page, we pledged to donate an additional £1 to Macmillan Cancer Support. Our team eagerly took part, and after just 45 seconds we declared Sam the winner. However, after further review, it turned out that Stef was the true champion!  It was a lighthearted, entertaining way to support such an important cause, and we're proud to have contributed to Macmillan’s efforts to provide care and support to those affected by cancer. 

Today marks one year since Jayne Deakin joined the Production Concepts family as our Administration Manager! Over the past year, Jayne’s dedication, hard work, and keen attention to detail have played a crucial role in keeping our operations running smoothly behind the scenes.

Whether she’s managing our day-to-day administration or ensuring that everything is organised to perfection, Jayne has become an essential part of the team. But it’s not just her professional contributions that we appreciate. Jayne also brings warmth and positivity to the office, keeping us all topped up with funny conversation, sweet treats and plenty of tea throughout the day!  We are incredibly grateful for everything Jayne has brought to Production Concepts over the past year. This week the team took part in the in a first aid training and we’re proud to announce that they all successfully completed the FAA Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work course. The training, provided by BH Training Solutions, was expertly delivered by instructor Asa, whose engaging and informative approach made the day both enjoyable and educational.

The course covered a wide range of essential first aid skills, including CPR, wound management, dealing with shock, and responding to various emergency situations. Asa's expertise, combined with his interactive teaching style, ensured that each team member gained not only a strong understanding of the theoretical aspects but also invaluable practical experience.  Thanks to this comprehensive training, the team now feels confident and fully equipped to handle emergency situations that may arise, both in the workplace and beyond. We would like to extend our thanks to Asa and BH Training Solutions for delivering such an exceptional course, helping us prioritise the safety and well-being of everyone at Production Concepts.

We are excited to formally introduce Craig Simmons, who joined the Production Concepts team in April as our new Project Manager. With a rich background in the audiovisual industry, Craig brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge, making him a fantastic addition to our growing team.

Before joining us, Craig worked as a freelance AV technician, honing his expertise across various projects and event setups. His hands-on experience in the field, combined with his technical know-how, makes him well-suited to his new role. As Project Manager, Craig will oversee the planning and execution of our events, ensuring each one runs smoothly and meets our high standards of quality and professionalism.

Craig's journey from a freelance technician to a key player in our project management team is a testament to his dedication and passion for the AV industry. We are thrilled to introduce the latest addition to our team, Sam Astill, who has recently joined us as an Audio-Visual (AV) apprentice. Over the next three years, Sam will be embarking on an exciting journey to achieve his Level 3 Live Event Technician qualification, a highly regarded certification in the world of event production.

During this time, Sam will have the opportunity to dive deep into the dynamic and fast-paced world of AV. He'll be learning the ins and outs of live event production, mastering cutting-edge audiovisual technologies, and gaining hands-on experience at real-world events. From setting up complex sound systems to managing visual displays and ensuring smooth operations at large-scale events, Sam will become an integral part of our team and contribute to delivering the high-quality service our clients expect.

Sam’s apprenticeship marks the beginning of a new chapter for him, and we're excited to help him grow both personally and professionally. As it’s National Apprenticeship Week, there’s no better time to shine the light on our very own AV Apprentice, Shay Walsh! Since joining us in October 2023, Shay has already become an invaluable asset to our team, infusing every project with boundless enthusiasm, unwavering dedication, and innovative perspectives. From learning the ropes to mastering new skills, Shay's growth and development exemplify the incredible success of apprenticeship schemes.

Last night our husband and wife team, Operations Director Greg, and Administration Manager Jayne were invited to ESSA's Annual Awards 2023. We were shortlisted for ESSA’s AV & Production: Delivering Exceptional Services and Products Award, an accolade that honours companies for their outstanding contributions to delivering exceptional services and products in the audiovisual and production industry.  And although we didn't take home the trophy from Thursday nights ceremony, we were grateful to have been nominated and recognised for what we do!  Being nominated for the award was an honour in itself, standing among remarkable contenders who exemplify excellence in our industry. The competition was fierce, and we extend our sincere congratulations to the deserving winners.  We remain committed to pushing the boundaries of innovation, providing unparalleled service, and contributing to the continued growth and advancement of the AV and production industry.

Over the weekend, our Technical Director, Stef, participated in Trek26, a 26-mile multi-terrain hike through the stunning Cotswold countryside. Despite the picturesque scenery, the challenge was intensified by unpredictable weather conditions. Nevertheless, Stef and the other fundraisers persevered, crossing the finish line after 11 hours and 9 minutes. Their determination bore fruit when they surpassed their fundraising goal, raising an impressive £2204 for the Alzheimer's Society.  Here's what Stef had to say after he'd recovered;

"After months of training, we started the Trek26 at 6 am amidst the gusty Cotswolds! Although the weather forecast had anticipated storms, the initial six hours graced us with delightful sunshine. Around midday, however, the rain came down, leaving us all completely drenched. The final four miles proved to be the most challenging as I began experiencing back pain. Nevertheless, we persevered, supporting, and encouraging each other until we crossed the finish line. It was a demanding and lengthy day, but it was all in aid of such a worthy cause. I want to express my gratitude to everyone who generously contributed donations."

What a great effort by everyone involved!

On Saturday 17th June, our little ones took part in Race for Life's Pretty Muddy Kids at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire.  It was a warm and humid day, but nothing was stopping these kids from embracing the 6km obstacle course!  Tunnels, nets, climbing walls, slides, and lots of mud - what more could you ask for? They worked together, helping each other through the obstacles, and supporting one another along the course. They raised a massive £800 for Cancer Research UK which is amazing!  Thank you to everyone who donated!

Did you know that when healthy trees are planted, they become climate champions by effectively sequestering CO2 from the atmosphere? Additionally, they play a vital role in restoring and maintaining healthy ecosystems, leading to the further sequestration and storage of carbon in both soils and plant biomass. Furthermore, the presence of trees contributes to biodiversity enrichment!

Reforestation initiatives bring about numerous co-benefits for local communities. These projects have the potential to generate employment opportunities, foster gender equality, create new sources of income, diversify food sources to support healthier diets, and enhance community facilities.

We want to be part of the change and be a more sustainable business.  We are committed to projects that help us to do that.

We believe that businesses have a vital role to play in creating a more sustainable future. With growing concerns about climate change and environmental degradation, it has become increasingly important for us to actively participate in reducing our ecological footprint. We are on a journey towards becoming a more eco-conscious business and have recently signed up with Ecologi to help offset our carbon footprint.  We've also pledged to plant a tree every month.  It's small steps but we will continue to review our processes and make changes for a more sustainable future.

The donation page is now live!  Production Concepts Next Gen have signed themselves up to compete in Cancer Research UK's Race For Life 'Pretty Muddy Kids 2023'.  Pretty Muddy Kids is a 5km obstacle course made up of slides, tunnels, nets, inflatables, and of course lots of mud.  We're super proud of them for taking part in such a tough challenge, all in the name of charity.
